The Photo Modulator is a compact, light-sensitive expression controller that lets you manipulate any expression-compatible pedal using light. Shine a flashlight, strobe, stage light—even a lava lamp—onto the sensor to sweep your effect in one direction; cover it in shadow to sweep it back. It responds just like a traditional expression pedal:
Light = toe down | Dark = heel down.
Housed in a right-angle ¼” jack enclosure, the Photo Modulator has an ultra-small footprint and is easy to position toward your preferred light source. Best of all, it’s completely passive—no power or batteries required.
This unique tool opens up a world of performance possibilities, allowing you to interact with your effects in a totally new, hands-free way. It pairs perfectly with Death By Audio pedals like the ROOMS, Evil Filter, and Crossover Fuzz, as well as most standard expression-controlled effects.
