2012 Martin D-18 Golden Era (D-18GE) – Sunburst
A truly exceptional example of one of Martin’s most sought-after modern vintage reissues, this 2012 D-18 Golden Era combines pre-war-inspired construction with outstanding craftsmanship and tone. Featuring a beautiful Sunburst-finished Adirondack spruce top, genuine mahogany back and sides, and Martin’s revered Golden Era bracing pattern, this guitar delivers the powerful, articulate, and dynamic voice that has made the D-18 a legendary flat-top.
Built to capture the essence of a mid-1930s D-18, the D-18GE features forward-shifted scalloped 5/16” Golden Era X-bracing, a comfortable 1-3/4” nut width, and a substantial 1930s-style soft V neck profile that feels remarkably natural in hand. The result is a responsive, resonant instrument with impressive headroom, strong fundamentals, and the dry, woody character that bluegrass players and fingerstylists alike appreciate.
Premium appointments include a fossil ivory nut and saddle, ebony fingerboard and bridge, Waverly nickel tuners with butterbean buttons, beveled tortoise-style pickguard, Brazilian rosewood headplate, cloth side reinforcements, and a gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finish. Unlike Martin’s Authentic Series models, the D-18GE incorporates an adjustable truss rod for easy neck relief adjustments and long-term playability.
This guitar is in excellent condition with no major blemishes to note. Light surface wear and minor handling marks may be present under close inspection but are too subtle to capture in photographs. The guitar has been well cared for and plays beautifully.
Includes the original Martin hardshell case.
