The Martin Custom Shop 000-18 is a beautifully crafted auditorium-style acoustic that blends vintage-inspired tone with modern playability. This example is in mint condition and was removed from the box only for inspection, photography, and a brief play test. The neck is straight, the action is excellent, and the guitar plays effortlessly across the board. Tonally, this one is especially lively and resonant with outstanding balance, clarity, and warmth. Whether fingerpicked lightly or driven harder with a flatpick, it responds with rich articulation and impressive dynamic range. Includes the original Martin hardshell case, hang tag, and all case candy.
Built in Martin’s Custom Shop, this 000-18 delivers heirloom-level craftsmanship with premium tonewoods and refined Golden Era-inspired appointments. Featuring a solid Adirondack spruce top paired with genuine mahogany back and sides, this short-scale 000 produces the dry, woody character and open resonance that players chase in vintage Martins. The hand-shaped Golden Era scalloped bracing and traditional dovetail neck joint contribute exceptional responsiveness, sustain, and projection while maintaining the intimate feel that makes the 000 body shape so beloved among fingerstyle players and singer-songwriters.
The 24.9” short scale offers a relaxed playing feel with slightly lower string tension, making bends easier and chords feel effortless. The GE Modified Low Oval neck with High-Performance Taper feels instantly comfortable and allows smooth movement across the fretboard. A 1 3/4” nut width provides ideal string spacing for fingerstyle work while still feeling natural for strumming and flatpicking.
Visually, the guitar captures the understated elegance of a prewar Style 18 Martin with tasteful Custom Shop upgrades throughout. Faux tortoise binding and pickguard complement the aging toner Adirondack top beautifully, while Old Style 18 abalone inlays, ebony fingerboard and bridge, and vintage-style open-gear tuners complete the classic aesthetic.
This is an incredibly versatile instrument equally at home in the studio, on stage, or in the living room. Warm, articulate, responsive, and exceptionally musical, the Custom Shop 000-18 delivers the unmistakable Martin sound with premium Custom Shop refinement.
