Created in collaboration with acclaimed singer-songwriter Rosanne Cash, this limited-edition J-185 is a stunning blend of elegant craftsmanship, premium tonewoods, and stage-ready versatility. Built by the master luthiers of the Gibson Custom Shop in Bozeman, Montana, only 100 examples were produced worldwide, making this a highly collectible instrument for players and collectors alike.
The guitar features a beautifully figured flame maple body with a slightly thinner depth for enhanced comfort, paired with a thermally aged Sitka spruce top that delivers the warmth, responsiveness, and mature character of a well-played vintage instrument. The SlimTaper mahogany neck and rosewood fingerboard provide effortless playability, while mother-of-pearl appointments throughout add an unmistakably upscale aesthetic.
One of the model’s most distinctive features is its custom pickguard, designed by Rosanne Cash and her husband, acclaimed producer and guitarist John Leventhal. Inspired by the iconic J-200 shape, it incorporates a mother-of-pearl Cash logo and serves as a fitting tribute to both Rosanne’s artistry and her family’s musical legacy.
