Martin Custom Shop Hand-Selected D-18 – Sinker Redwood Top & Sinker Mahogany Back and Sides
Martin Custom Shop Hand-Selected D-18 – Sinker Redwood Top & Sinker Mahogany Back and Sides
This Martin Custom Shop Hand-Selected D-18 is in excellent condition. Light superficial surface scratches from normal handling may be present but are too minor to photograph. The guitar has been professionally fitted with an LR Baggs Anthem pickup system, providing outstanding plugged-in performance while preserving its rich acoustic voice. Includes original Martin hardshell case, Custom shop spec booklet and hang tag.
This is one of those Martins that immediately stands out the moment you pick it up. The combination of a sinker redwood top and sinker mahogany back and sides creates a voice that is remarkably open, resonant, and dynamic. It projects effortlessly, responds beautifully to the lightest touch, and delivers a warm, powerful tone that only gets better the longer you play it. Quite simply, this is one of the best-sounding Martins we've had come through the shop in quite some time.
Built by the Martin Custom Shop, this hand-selected D-18 elevates an already legendary platform with premium reclaimed tonewoods that are as visually striking as they are sonically impressive.
The sinker redwood top offers the warmth and responsiveness of cedar with the headroom and clarity of spruce, producing a rich, balanced voice with exceptional sensitivity and sustain. Its unique mineral streaking and natural character make every guitar one of a kind.
Complementing the top are sinker mahogany back and sides, crafted from old-growth logs that spent decades submerged in rivers before being recovered. This rare wood delivers a dry, woody character with deep bass, strong midrange presence, and remarkable note separation, giving the guitar an unmistakably mature and broken-in sound.
The traditional 14-fret dreadnought body provides the power and projection that have made the D-18 one of the most respected acoustic guitars ever built, while the comfortable Golden Era Modified Low Oval neck and ebony fingerboard make long playing sessions effortless.
Whether you're flatpicking, fingerpicking, recording, or performing live, this Custom Shop Martin offers boutique-level craftsmanship and an inspiring voice that rivals instruments costing significantly more.
