2014 Fender Vintage Hot Rod ’60s Telecaster – 3-Color Sunburst

This 2014 Fender Vintage Hot Rod ’60s Telecaster is a fantastic example of one of Fender’s most unique and versatile Telecaster models. Combining vintage-inspired ’60s aesthetics with a hot-rodded pickup configuration and modern playability, this is the kind of guitar that quickly becomes one you reach for over and over.

This guitar is in great overall condition with light cosmetic wear, including some light swirling on the body consistent with normal use. The finish on these guitars is intentionally extremely thin, allowing the instrument to resonate freely and develop more character as it ages. Electronics work exactly as they should and sound fantastic. Small chip in corner of finish at neck plate

This particular model is personally one of my favorites. It is incredibly versatile, extremely fun to play, and has a unique combination of Telecaster snap, Strat-style tones, and modern flexibility. Includes the original Fender hardshell case and all pictured case candy.

The alder body is paired with a maple ’60s-style D-shaped neck featuring a satin nitrocellulose lacquer finish and vintage-style heel-end truss rod adjustment. The rosewood fingerboard features a 7.25"–12" compound radius, 21 Narrow Jumbo frets, oversized white pearloid dot inlays, and a bone nut. The compound radius provides the comfortable feel of a vintage Fender down low while allowing for easier bending and lead work higher up the neck.

Where this Telecaster really separates itself is the three-pickup configuration. A Twisted Tele neck pickup, American Vintage ’59 Stratocaster middle pickup, and Broadcaster bridge pickup provide an impressive range of classic Fender sounds. The standard five-way blade switch covers the traditional combinations, while the S-1 switchingadds the bridge pickup to positions 3, 4, and 5 for even more tonal options.

The result is a Telecaster that can deliver everything from traditional Tele twang and snap to glassy Strat-style tones and fuller blended sounds. It has plenty of personality and is equally comfortable playing country, blues, rock, Americana, or just about anything else you throw at it.

Specifications include an alder body, 3-Color Sunburst finish, maple D-shaped neck, satin nitrocellulose lacquer neck finish, rosewood 7.25"–12" compound-radius fingerboard, 21 Narrow Jumbo frets, bone nut, vintage-style tuners, 3-ply mint green pickguard, Twisted Tele neck pickup, ’59 Strat middle pickup, Broadcaster bridge pickup, 5-way switching, and S-1 switching for expanded pickup combinations.

A seriously cool Fender that offers the best of several worlds—vintage Tele character, Strat-inspired tones, and modern versatility. This is a model that doesn't get nearly enough attention, and this example is ready to be someone's go-to guitar.
