Fender Custom Shop 1959 Stratocaster "Chicago Special" Time Capsule Olive Drab w/Rosewood Neck
The Fender Custom Shop collaborated with Chicago Music Exchange to design this absolutely stunning 1959 “Chicago Special” Stratocaster. They started by fitting the Alder body with a VERY RARE Olive Drab “Time Capsule” finish which gives the look of a well-preserved vintage instrument. It pairs a thin, "no-buff" New Old Stock (NOS) flash-coat lacquer with Closet Classic hardware, offering a played-in, resonant sound without heavy wear or scratches. They took the customization a step further by adding a beautiful all Rosewood neck with 60’s style oval “C” shape.
Each “Chicago Special" Fender Custom Shop guitar features their own custom Chicago Special pickups. The "Chicago Special" Strat pickups features acalibrated set of bridge to neck pickups for balanced output. Each pickup as custom AlNiCo 5 magnet stagger for optimum output balance string-to-string 42 gauge enamel wire for round highs. These pickups are potted in shellac for open wide range frequency response.
This guitar is in excellent condition. Small finish chip in the neck pocket and small ding on the back of the headstock. Neck is straight and free of any blemishes. Electronics work as expected and sound great. The “Chicago Special” pickups sound so good! This guitar is an absolutely beautiful looking Strat!. Includes original Fender Custom Shop hardshell case, certificate of authenticity, shop floor traveller, tremolo arm, bridge cover and all paperwork.
