Fender Custom Shop 1960 Stratocaster Hardtail Journeyman in 3-Tone Sunburst - 7lbs 2oz
The early 1960s marked a defining evolution of the Stratocaster—introducing the rosewood fingerboard, refined neck profiles, and the iconic 3-tone sunburst that shaped a new era of tone and style. While the Strat has continued to evolve, many players agree that the early ‘60s formula remains the benchmark.
This examples features a two-piece select alder body that is very lightweight for excellent comfort, a maple neck with a time-honored 60 Style Oval “C” profile, and a beautifully dark 9.5”-radius rosewood fingerboard with 21 medium jumbofrets for steady play up and down the neck. The guitar is a Journeyman with the nice feel and look of a well-loved, 30-to-40-year-old instrument that was gigged frequently but well-maintained.
The guitar is loaded with a trio of Custom Shop Hand-Wound ‘60s Strat pickups with reverse wound/reverse-polarity middle pickup are given extra turns of wire to produce rich ’60s tone.
In a nod to vintage accuracy, Fender even removed the “With Synchronized Tremolo” portion of the headstock decal—because a true hardtail Strat doesn’t need it. It’s this level of attention to detail that defines the Custom Shop difference.
This guitar is in excellent condition, with no blemishes beyond the factory aging. Electronics function flawlessly and deliver classic Strat tone with added punch and sustain. Includes the original Fender Custom Shop hardshell case, Certificate of Authenticity, Shop Floor Traveler, and all original case candy.
