PRS Silver Sky – Orion Green w/ Maple Fingerboard
This PRS Silver Sky is in excellent condition with no significant visual blemishes to note. Light superficial surface scratches may be present but are too minor to properly show in photos. Includes the original PRS Premium gig bag, hang tag, and pictured case candy.
Designed by Paul Reed Smith in collaboration with John Mayer, the Silver Sky takes inspiration from the classic S-style guitars of the early '60s while incorporating the precision, playability, and modern refinements PRS is known for. This particular example looks fantastic in Orion Green with a maple fingerboard, and the combination of the finish and vintage-inspired design gives it plenty of personality.
The Silver Sky's bolt-on maple neck was developed around the feel of John Mayer's favorite vintage instruments. The 25.5" scale length, 7.25" radius, and comfortable neck carve give it that familiar vintage feel, while the 22 custom-sized frets make it equally comfortable for modern playing.
The modified PRS-style headstock is designed to maintain a consistent string length behind the nut, helping improve tuning stability and intonation. PRS locking tuners add another modern touch without taking away from the guitar's vintage-inspired aesthetic.
The Silver Sky's custom single-coil pickups are one of the biggest reasons these guitars have developed such a following. They deliver the round, full character of an early-'60s single-coil, with sparkling highs, clear mids, and excellent note definition.
The pickups have plenty of vintage character without becoming overly harsh or brittle, and the in-between positions offer noise-canceling operation. Plug it into a clean tube amp and you'll get those beautiful glassy, chiming tones; push the amp harder and the Silver Sky responds with a sweet, articulate overdrive.
The PRS tremolo system adds another layer of versatility. The bridge rests flush against the body in its neutral position and is designed to move down in pitch, while the Gen III knife-edge screws provide smooth operation and reliable return to pitch.
